According to Miriam Weber, Teaching and Lead Radiologist, the VELA Medical Mammography Chair affects the patient experience and the image quality positively. She and her colleagues in the mammography department in Stuttgart-Esslingen use the chair for women who cannot stand during the examination due to health issues. They also use the chair in situations where the woman is better able to have a breast screening while seated.

Miriam Weber evaluates the chair:

The VELA mammography chair is ideal for patients who cannot stand while being examined. Still, it is also a real asset for the radiologist to optimise the patient’s posture. Furthermore, the examination is much more comfortable for the patient and the radiologist. And the result is optimised image quality, which makes diagnostics more precise for radiologists.

The VELA mammography chair ensures quick and reliable patient positioning for the examination thanks to the smooth-running wheels, the user-friendly push bar, and the motorised height adjustment of the seat. In addition, the foot-operated brake ensures a stable chair during the screening.

We use the benefits of the VELA chair in our mammography unit not only exclusively for women who cannot have mammography while standing up due to diseases of the musculoskeletal system. We also use it for women who tolerate an examination in a sitting position better at the given time.

We can also perform biopsies optimally with the patient seated in the VELA chair, which is a real asset in our day-to-day work.

We consider the VELA chair a valuable mammography tool in terms of patient experience and for requiring the best possible mammograms with high diagnostic value.
